Maintaining Your Home And Property Keeps Up It’s Value And Curb Appeal. In This Business I Have Come Across Home Owners Who Simply Don’t Maintain Their Homes Or Don’t want To Afford The Expense. They Are All Looking For Discount Pricing Or Some Kind Of Deal. A Few Years Back I Got A Call From A Lady Who Wanted Some Repairs Done On Her House. The House Was Located In Montgomery County And The Owner Was A Lady In Her Eighties. She Had Lived In The House For More Than Fifty Year’s And Her Husband Had Passed Away 15 Year’s Earlier. The House Probably Needed Maintenance When He Was Still Alive But For Some Reason It Wasn’t Maintained. When I Went to The Property To Estimate Repairs It Was A Very Nicely Designed House About 3500 Sq. Ft. On 1.5 Acres. The House Was In Extremely Poor Condition.
It Had A Stucco Exterior That Was Almost All Gone The Sheathing Was Showing In Places. It Had 3 Dormers That Were Collapsing Into The Roof, The Roof Was Cedar Shake And Needed To Be Replaced. The Home Owner Needed To Sell The House But Couldn’t In That Condition Because She Would Have lost A Lot Of Money. Unfortunately The Home Owner Could Not Afford The Repairs Even Though I Kept The Price As Low As I Could. Eventually She Had To Leave The Home And Her Children Sold It For The FMP. My Point Here Is That If That Home Was Maintained Over The Year’s It Would Have Been Worth Around $400,000.00. Instead It Was Sold For Less Than Half. You Would Think That This Situation Is A Rarity However, It’s Really Not.
There Are Older People Who Have Lived In Their Homes For A Very Long Time, And They Either Maintained The Home Themselves Or Not At All. Just Like The Lady Mentioned Above A Lot Of Home Owners Don’t Maintain Their Homes Until It’s Time To Sell.
